Pedro Miguel Echenique receives the annual Gipuzkoa Hotels Award
Gipuzkoa Hotels recognizes Pedro Miguel Echenique with its annual award for promoting Gipuzkoa as a leading center for professional events
The Annual Meeting of Gipuzkoa Hotels, held today at the newly opened Hotel Luze San Sebastián, brought together the main representatives of the tourism sector in the territory of Gipuzkoa.
The Gipuzkoa Hotels Association, part of Adegi, brings together and represents the region’s leading hotels, accounting for 75% of the total hotel accommodation on offer in Gipuzkoa, with a notable contribution to GDP of 8.4% in Gipuzkoa and 14% in Donostia. As a result, the activity of hotels in Gipuzkoa is an important driver of the economy of Gipuzkoa, generating quality employment in the territory.
In this edition, the conference was opened by Raúl Fernández Acha, president of Hoteles de Gipuzkoa, and Isabel Busto, president of Adegi. The institutional opening was then carried out by Azahara Domínguez, Deputy for Mobility, Tourism, and Territorial Planning of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
After the opening of the assembly, attendees had the opportunity to hear a presentation by Marta Vidal Crespo on “Transforming destinations through tourism and communication infrastructure.”
Marta Vidal Crespo, a renowned lawyer specializing in administrative, urban planning, and real estate law, has extensive experience in the tourism sector. She has advised institutions and companies on destination transformation, sustainability, and tourism governance projects, providing an innovative and rigorous vision of infrastructure management and the adaptation of territories to the new challenges of responsible tourism.
During the assembly, the traditional award granted by the hotel sector of Gipuzkoa was presented, recognizing individuals and entities that have contributed significantly to the development and prestige of tourism in the territory. This year, the award was presented to Pedro Miguel Echenique.
Finally, the day ended with an institutional ceremony led by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Trade of the Basque Government, Jakes Aguirrezabal, and the Mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián, Eneko Goia, officially welcoming the new hotel recently opened in the city of Donostia, an addition that reinforces the city’s quality accommodation offering and consolidates its position as a leading destination.
